Sofia Province (Bulgarie: Софийска област, Sofiyska oblast) is a province (oblast) o Bulgarie. The province daes no include Sofia in its territories, but Sofia remains its admeenistrative center. The province borders on the provinces o Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Lovech, Vratsa, Montana an "Sofia-Capital" (which is in a separate oblast, see Sofia Admeenistration), tae the northwast thare is mairch wi Serbie.
The province haes a territory o 7 059 km² an haes 254,996 indwallers. The land is predominantly muntainous. Tae the north are the soothren slopes o the Balkan Muntains an tae the sooth rises Rila wi the heichest pynt in the peninsular Musala. Thare are an aw several smawer muntains an spacious valleys. Ane o the maist important ski resorts in Bulgarie, Borovets, is locatit here close tae Samokov.
Industry is well developit. Minin an ferrous metallurgy are the backbone o the economy wi the lairgest copper refinery in Sooth Eastren Europe in Pirdop an important copper mines at Chelopech an Etropole. Machinery is well developit in Botevgrad (buses, caur components, electronics), Pravets (computers), Etropole, Samokov, Elin Pelin, Ihtiman, Slivnitsa, Godech. The centre o fuid an succar industry is Svoge. This is an aw the birthplace o bass/baritone opera sangster an muisicker Boris Damianov.
